Dallas Cowboys: 2011 Free Agency moves: Leonard Davis victim of new salary cap.
Leonard Davis of the Dallas Cowboys was released by the Dallas Cowboys on Tuesday.
The move was one that made Davis a victim of that new salary cap of $120 million in the 2011-2012 NFL season.
In 2008 Davis signed a four year $22 million extension contract, and the 11 year vet started every game in 2010.
In a move that made me scratch my head, Davis's release obviously means the Cowboys were trying to get under the cap, as the Cowboys also signed Doug Free to a four year $32 million contract with $17 million of it guaranteed late Tuesday.
The Cowboys saved $6 million alone with the release of Davis.
